On the auspicious occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the Reassertion of the Independence of the Republic of Somaliland, I extend my warmest congratulations and heartfelt greetings to:
- His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Somaliland
- The Vice President
- The Government and People of Somaliland
- The distinguished members of the House of Representatives and the House of Elders
- The brave National Armed Forces
- And all Somaliland communities living both within the country and throughout the global diaspora
This historic day, 18 May, remains a proud symbol of the courage, determination, unity, and resilience of the people of Somaliland, who successfully restored their sovereignty and built a nation founded upon peace, democracy, stability, and mutual respect.
As Somaliland commemorates this important national celebration, we pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the sons and daughters of Somaliland, whose unwavering commitment, patriotism, and dedication laid the foundation for the peaceful and democratic state that Somaliland proudly represents today.
The Republic of Somaliland continues to stand as a remarkable example in the Horn of Africa and beyond, demonstrating democratic governance, peaceful transfers of power, regional cooperation, and social harmony despite the many challenges facing the region. Somaliland has earned admiration and respect from the international community for its commitment to peace, stability, the rule of law, security, and inclusive democratic values.
Furthermore, Somaliland’s strategic geographical position along the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea corridor continues to strengthen its importance in promoting regional peace, economic cooperation, maritime security, and international trade. Somaliland remains a vital partner for peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and across the wider global community.
On this historic and joyful occasion, I sincerely express my hope and confidence that more nations around the world will continue to recognize and support Somaliland’s legitimate aspirations for full international re-recognition, in acknowledgement of its democratic achievements, peaceful coexistence, and constructive role in regional and global affairs.
May this anniversary bring renewed unity, prosperity, development, and success to the Republic of Somaliland and its people everywhere.
