Somaliland UK Mission Welcomes Inaugural Somaliland Investment Summit and Commends Africa Legal Risk Control
The Republic of Somaliland UK Mission was proud to join and support the inaugural Somaliland Investment Summit, held on 14 October 2026 at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, as part of AFSIC – Investing in Africa 2026, the annual Africa-focused investment conference held in London on 13–14 October 2026.
The Mission was represented at the Summit by Deputy Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Wacays. His participation reflected the Mission’s support for practical initiatives that connect Somaliland businesses and investment opportunities with international capital, expertise and strategic partners.
The Somaliland Investment Summit was sponsored and convened by Africa Legal Risk Control Ltd (ALRC), a UK-based legal, investment and risk-management practice with offices and operational presence in London, Hargeisa, Berbera and across the wider Horn of Africa. Its multidisciplinary teams, led by CEO and Senior Legal Counsel Omer Ahmed, provide legal, tax, regulatory, due-diligence and risk expertise to investors, international financial institutions and businesses operating in Somaliland and the region.
Showcasing Somaliland’s Investment Potential
The Summit provided a dedicated international platform for Somaliland to present its commercial strengths, strategic location and growing pipeline of investable projects. ALRC presented a Somaliland Investment Dealbook comprising 14 bankable investment opportunities with a combined value exceeding US$1.2 billion across ports and the maritime economy, critical minerals, oil and gas, clean energy, infrastructure and other productive sectors.
The Mission welcomes the focus on commercially viable projects, investor readiness, transparent structures and practical risk mitigation. These are important foundations for converting international interest in Somaliland into long-term investment, employment, skills transfer and sustainable economic growth.
Deputy Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Wacays said:
“We were proud to join and support the inaugural Somaliland Investment Summit. It provided an important platform to present Somaliland directly to international investors and to demonstrate the scale, diversity and commercial potential of the opportunities available across our economy.
We welcome and applaud Africa Legal Risk Control for sponsoring and convening this initiative and for bringing together investors, institutions, advisers and Somaliland stakeholders around a practical investment agenda. The presentation of 14 bankable opportunities exceeding US$1.2 billion is a strong indication of the breadth of Somaliland’s investment potential.
Somaliland has a resilient and entrepreneurial private sector, a strategic position on one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, and significant opportunities across infrastructure, energy, natural resources and trade. We look forward to building on the relationships established in London and to supporting responsible international investment that contributes to Somaliland’s long-term prosperity.”
The Mission congratulates Africa Legal Risk Control and the organisers of AFSIC – Investing in Africa on the successful event and welcomes continued engagement between Somaliland, international investors, development finance institutions and strategic commercial partners.
